How do I uninstall a Westwood plugin?

Here are the steps to remove any files related to a Westwood plugin. Whether you want to start fresh, or just clear out space, you can follow the steps below.

Mac

  1. Open Finder and press Shift + Command + G (⇧⌘G) to open the "Go to Folder" box.
  2. Type the exact path name for the following locations:
    • /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/
    • /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/
    • /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/
    • /Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins/
  3. Delete the relevant plugin files

PC

  1. Open File Explorer and Press Alt + D (or F4) to instantly highlight the address bar at the top of the window.
  2. Type the exact folder path for the following locations
    • C:\Program Files\VstPlugins\ or C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VstPlugins\
    • C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\
    • C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins\
  3. Delete the relevant plugin files

Next, we want to delete the instrument resource files. 

 

Mac

  1. Open Finder and press Shift + Command + G (⇧⌘G) to open the "Go to Folder" box.
  2. Enter the filepath: /Library/Application Support/Westwood/
  3. Delete any relevant folders
  4. Repeat the steps for filepath: /Users/USERNAME/Library/Application Support/Westwood

PC

  1. Press Windows + R to open the Run window.
  2. Type %appdata% and press Enter to open the Roaming subfolder.
  3. Type %localappdata% instead if you want to jump straight to the Local subfolder
  4. Delete any relevant folders in both locations

Once these have been removed, navigate back to the Westwood Instruments website and head to My Account > Plugin Downloaders. You can then redownload and install your plugins. 

Note! You will need to repeat the authorisation process the first time you reopen your plugin.
